We just came back from an awesome NPE Mega Training event. If you've never been to one, you're missing out - they continue to get better and better each year. The energy, excitement and caliber of people that attend the event each year all work together to motivate and energize all who attend to make something of themselves and their business.

But, that's not what this article is about. This article is about an underlying theme that I come across more and more - and was especially evident at this year's event. FEAR. Fear of change. Fear of losing clients. Fear of disappointing. Fear of failure.

I'm going to try and breakdown fear for you here so it does not become a crippling factor in your business - because, once you conquer FEAR, there is no direction but up for you and your business.

So, let's start with F.

F doesn't need to stand for Fear, but for Focus. We always talk about establishing focus in your business. Vision. Clarity. A direction for you to follow. If you have clear Focus, you'll never waiver from your goals, never be distracted by shiny objects, and fear doesn't become an issue.

Start by establishing your vision. Where do you see your business 1 year, 3 years, 5 years down the road? Then establish quarterly goals that will allow you to achieve that vision. Post them on your wall. Where you can see them every day. As you work through the projects that support your goals - and ultimately your vision, keep your FOCUS. Don't waiver. Bat away the shiny objects that could cause you to lose FOCUS. Once you start to establish some traction in terms of achieving your goals - and ultimately your vision, the fear will start to diminish. It's a mind game - failure breeds fear, FOCUS breeds success.

Next, E. E is ENERGY.

You need to have within yourself an energy and drive to succeed. No one wants to be around the lazy workout partner ... laziness breeds more laziness. Surround yourself with energy and energetic - highly motivated people. Become one of those. Every person we had on stage at Mega Training projects an ENERGY and Enthusiasm that is infectious. And - they are all highly successful in what they do.

Energy is not going home at 2pm every day and taking a nap. Energy is not putting off until tomorrow what you can do today. Energy is excitement about what you are creating - the vision you have and working to get it done!

Which leads us to A. ACTION.

Take action in your business. From your quarterly goals, establish the projects and the timelines you need to get the work done. And then, do it! Again, fear may stop you from taking action, you may find yourself wondering "what if I fail?" There is no failure in action. Getting something done half bad is better than getting nothing done at all.

Having the accountability of your project sheets and timelines will help you take that ACTION. Be sure to establish weekly meetings with yourself (we call these weekly reviews), to ensure you're on target, getting things done and not falling behind.

Once you find yourself taking action you'll actually start to see some results occurring.

Which, gets me to the last letter in F.E.A.R. RESULTS!

All combined together, Focus, Energy, Action can only lead to one thing - RESULTS!

Once you start to establish Results, and see your goals and visions being met, fear dissipates. It goes away. You think to yourself, I can do this. I'm making it happen - and you continue on in a positive path.

Again - think about your clients, you give them focus, you give them energy, you make them take action and ultimately, they achieve results. And once they start to see results, they keep coming back for more - and achieving greater results. It shouldn't be any different for you.

So, get rid of fear and replace it with Focus Energy Action Results.
