The Simplest - and Most Profound - Fitness Business Success Secret
By Eric Ruth
I read two-thirds of Dan John's book, "Never Let Go" prior to MEGA TRAINING. Since then, I've been
reading the other third, a chapter here, a chapter there. This is the best book on mind and body fitness I've ever read.
The best.
And one of the greatest personal development books ever.
It absolutely resonates with me. I read a chapter, and I "get it." I understand what Dan is saying.
I can instantly understand how to apply it.
That's beautiful, and rare.
Dan John is a gifted teacher.
Just this morning I was reading Chapter 37: "Goals and Toilet Seats, A Men's Room Epiphany" Great
title (big lesson there). The chapter is about goals. But, just like the rest of his book, it's not
the "usual" stuff you read
everywhere else. It's unique, different, and better. Within the context of his STORY about Goals
and Toilet Seats,
Dan delivers powerful, clarifying instruction.
I'm not going to attempt to paraphrase or summarize the complete message of this chapter, because
I won't do it justice. You have to read it.
But I will share one beautiful little nugget.
Because it is the simplest (and therefore most profound) success secret. And since your goal is
to create a great fitness business (and a great life), this is the simplest and most profound
fitness business success secret.
Let me set this up by first telling you - if you don't already know - that here at NPE we take a
lot of time helping our EVOLUTION ACCELERATOR and VIP Members figure out and DOCUMENT their specific vision and goals.
Because that's the foundation of any successful business - of any successful life. It is STEP #1.
We sometimes meet with resistance on this from newbies. Because they just want to jump right to
the "getting more clients" stage.
Which is always - ALWAYS - a mistake.
So Camelia has to rope 'em in, slow 'em down ...and put them on the RIGHT path to success.
Because ONLY when your vision and goals are correctly established, can you gain real clarity.
Only then can you move for-ward ...with SPEED ...and without confusion.
On page 342 of Never Let Go, Dan says ...
"I like to encourage my charges to assess things through a thought I repeat over and over and over
again:
"LOOK FOR YOUR ANSWERS THROUGH THE LENS OF YOUR GOALS."
"The One Minute Manager (by Kenneth Blanchard & Spencer Johnson) said it best:
- Look at your goals.
- Look at your behavior.
- Does your behavior match your goals?
"It's the million-dollar question."
As Da Vinci said,"simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
What Dan (and The One Minute Manager) are saying here is the very essence of simplicity.
It is the simplest (and most profound) fitness business success secret.
"Does your behavior match your goals?"
If you truly want success - in anything - just do this:
- Get clear on your goals.
- Write them down.
- Review them first thing every single day.
- Make sure your behavior that day (and every day) matches your goals.
This gives you the ultimate "success litmus test".
At the end of each day you review to determine whether or not your behavior that day moved you
closer to your goals. Was it supportive behavior, or was it sabotaging behavior?
As I said in my blog post here about "what separates the haves from the have nots" - it is the
hundreds of little, tiny, minute-tominute decisions you make throughout the day that determine
your altitude in business and in life - your success - MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
Because those decisions DICTATE your behavior.
Does that make sense to you?
Great. Then here is your action step for today: Get Dan John's book "Never Let Go" here at
Dave Draper's website. Read it. No, STUDY IT. Mark it up. Take notes. Think about it. And apply
what you learn ...not just to fitness, but to life.
It is an amazing book that will inspire and delight you - and guide you to higher highs.
